A YEAR IN THE ORGANIC GARDEN A series of Nine Seminars Begins Saturday, August 28, 2010, 9am - 11am. The classes will be led by Master Gardener Adina Lehrman, and will include both educational lecture and hands-on experience. Topics will include composting, companion planting, crop rotation, no-dig gardens, watering techniques, natural pest control, creating vertical supports for vining crops, and developing garden eco-systems. The fee for each seminar is $15 each for Heathcote members, and $20 for non-members and includes hand-outs. Each seminar is a stand-alone session. The series will run from August 28 into Spring 2011 at Heathcote Botanical Garden in Fort Pierce.

MOUNTING AND REPOTTING ORCHIDS September 25, 2010 (10:00 am - Noon) More information: 561-233-1757. This workshop with instructors Tom Wells and Sandi Jones of Broward Orchid Supply, students will learn what orchids need--water, light, fertilizer,
temperature. Attendees are encouraged to bring an orchid up to 6 inches to repot or mount. Several methods will be demonstrated such as potting and mounting on tree fern, cork bark or grapevine. Orchid supplies and small orchids will be available to purchase.
